Despacito is a song from 2017 released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the single that became the most streamed track worldwide within just six months. The combination of reggaeton and pop music has not only brought attention back to the genre, but also to Latin music generally. The Billboard Top 100 included four mostly Spanish songs from 2016 as opposed to two in 2015. In the year 2020, some Reggaeton performers were expressing displeasure about the direction of the genre toward the mainstream.
